ABOUT US

Tasmanian Artist and Makers of the Huon is a small collective of professional Artists and Makers from the Huon Valley that came up with the idea to start an Instagram presence. We chose to call it Tasmanian_artists_of_the_huon (TAMOH)

There are some very accomplished artists living in the picturesque Huon Valley.  Because it is difficult to track down who makes what and where to find them, we decided on publishing our images under a new # hashtag and including our own Instagram references. We love the fact that restaurants, galleries, shops and media (magazines, stylists, authors,) are using and selling local artworks and handmade products and we want to share where this occurring.

The name Tasmanian_artists_of_the_huon identifies and locates professional artists and artists’ studios in they Huon Valley.  Our goal is to feature one artist per week (however this may not be so regular as we are doing this voluntarily, so do be patient). We would like to show an image of the artist at work, the actual artwork you have created and where it may be found. If you are having an exhibition or special workshop let us know and we will try to feature it.

The content is being posted to inform the community and visitors to the professional visual arts in the Huon Valley. Our intention is to harness artistic momentum through hashtags and enticing imagery, adding an artistic and creative voice to not only inform our community, but attract visitors in the Far South of Tasmania’s Huon Valley and beyond.

TAMOH does on occasion host exhibitions and promotional events such as the recent December, 2020 Art and Wine Trail.

The Instagram posts are curated/managed by volunteer administrators.
